Terms of Service

Acceptance

By downloading or using Grouse, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Use of the app

Grouse is provided for personal, non-commercial household use. You may use the app to manage shopping lists and store loyalty and gift card information for yourself and members of your household.

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its backend services
• Use the app to store sensitive personal data beyond its intended purpose
• Abuse shared spaces to harass or interfere with other users

Subscriptions and payments

Grouse is free to download and use offline, with full features and no account required. Grouse Sharing, which provides real-time synchronisation across a shared household space, is an optional auto-renewing subscription.

• Grouse Sharing is a yearly subscription priced at approximately €1.99/year. The exact price for your region is shown in the app and on your app store before you purchase.
• Each member of a shared space needs their own active subscription on their device to sync. On Apple devices, Apple Family Sharing is supported, so a single purchase covers the buyer's Apple Family group.
• Payment is charged to your app store account at confirmation of purchase.
• The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your app store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds, where applicable, are handled by the app store in accordance with its policy. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly.

Your use of the subscription is also governed by your app store's standard licensing terms (such as Apple's standard End User License Agreement). If a subscription lapses, sharing and sync are paused, but all of your data remains available on your device for offline use.

Shared spaces

Shared spaces are created voluntarily by users. The space owner is responsible for managing access, including sharing credentials only with trusted household members. Grouse is not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from shared credentials.

Service availability

Grouse is provided on a best-effort basis. The app works offline and does not require a constant internet connection. Sync features, which are part of the paid Grouse Sharing subscription, depend on the availability of our backend infrastructure. We do not guarantee any specific uptime for cloud sync services and are not liable for temporary unavailability. Offline functionality remains available regardless of subscription or connectivity.

Data protection and security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will act in line with our legal obligations, including notifying the relevant authority where required.

No warranty

Grouse is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Softverse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Grouse, including loss of data. Our total liability, if any, shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app.

Intellectual property

The Grouse app, name, icon, and all related branding are the property of Softverse. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works based on them without written permission.

Third-party services

Grouse uses Microsoft Azure for backend infrastructure and is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your use is also subject to the App Store's terms and Microsoft's service terms where applicable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via an updated date on this page. Continued use of the app following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, without regard to conflict of law principles.
