Data Deletion

Last updated: August 15, 2026

Grouse has no user accounts

Grouse does not ask you to register, and there is no user account to delete. The app works offline-first: your shopping list, archives and cards live on your device. Data reaches our servers only when you create a shared space — a space is secured with an owner e-mail address and a password, and it is the only thing we store.

Delete everything from the app

Open Settings → Delete Space in Grouse on any device. What happens depends on who you are:

  • Owner of a shared space — the space and all of its data (shopping list, items, archives, loyalty and gift cards, device registrations and the owner e-mail address) are permanently deleted from our servers, and removed from the device you are using. Other members are told on their next sync and can keep their local copy or remove it.
  • Member of a shared space — the space is removed from your device. The shared space and the other members' data are not affected; ask the owner to delete the space itself.
  • Space that was never shared — nothing was ever sent to us; deleting the space removes the local data.

Uninstalling the app also removes everything stored on that device. It does not delete a shared space from our servers — use Delete Space first if that is what you want.

Request deletion by e-mail

If you can no longer access the app — for example you lost the device that owns the space — write to grouse@softverse.space from the owner e-mail address of the space and include the Space ID if you know it. We delete the space and confirm within 30 days.

What is deleted and what is kept

Deleting a space removes the shopping list and its items, archived lists, loyalty and gift cards, device registrations, the owner e-mail address, and the password hash for that space. Server backups are rotated out within 30 days. Anonymous, non-identifying diagnostic logs may be retained for up to 90 days for security and abuse prevention; they contain no list content and no card data.

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and are not part of a space. Cancel or manage them in your App Store or Google Play account.
